Financial Aid & Scholarship Application Process

Please make sure that all of the following forms are clearly labeled with Student’s Name, Parent’s Name, Primary Phone Number, and Primary Email Address.

Provide the completed financial information form 1 and attach the document(s) that are outlined on the financial form.

Need-Based Statement

The parent or guardian of the student should submit a short need-based statement explaining the need for a tuition scholarship.

Essay Question

The student should answer one of these questions. The essay should be 250-500 words and typed.

  1. Explain what OCM’s Mission means to you: “Building musical community through education and performance.”
  2. How has music impacted my life?
  3. Who has inspired me the most to pursue music?

Teacher Letter of Recommendation

A teacher that works with the student in private lessons or a group setting should be asked to send a letter of recommendation in response to the student’s dedication and merit.

Audition/Interview Process

Auditions will take place in June 2011 for students who are currently studying an instrument.  If you are a new student, please schedule a time for an interview. Please include any conflicts you have for this month. The student will be notified of their audition time and date by May 27th, 2011. The student should have one piece or song prepared. All auditions are unaccompanied. If the student would like an accompanist, they can provide their own.

Deadline for Scholarship Applications is May 15th, 2011. Auditions will be scheduled in June. A scholarship committee will review the scholarship applications after the auditions and will send award notifications by e-mail and phone before July 1, 2011.
