Frontier String Ensemble

The Frontier String Ensemble is a group of 35 violin and viola players between the ages of 7-18 who are dedicated to excellence and using their God-given talents to serve the community. The children perform all music from memory and know a wide range of material. Their repertoire includes sacred, fiddle tunes, classical, show tunes, movie music and pop songs. During the summer of 2006, the Frontier Strings performed four concerts in Salzburg, Austria as well as worship services in Munich, Germany. The group has toured western Nebraska three times, performing at Five Rocks Amphitheater, Fort Robinson, Theater West, Northfield Villa, Scottsbluff Methodist Church, Chuckwagon Church, as well as appearing in the Oregon Trail Days Parade.

The group is a non-profit organization and a portion of all contributions to Frontier String Ensemble support music lesson scholarships to children who need financial assistance. The group is under the direction of Ruth Meints, the Executive Director for the Omaha Conservatory of Music and violin faculty at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The group includes performers from the studios of: Mary Amador, Erin Cosby, Ruth Meints, Ann Nagosky, and William Wolcott. The ensemble is accompanied by Steve Roberts, worship leader for King of Kings Lutheran Church in Omaha. Personnel Manager is Cheryl Finkenbiner, substitute teacher and proud mom of two Frontier String Ensemble members.
