About OCM
The Conservatory currently provides private lessons in violin, viola, cello, bass, piano, guitar, voice, flute, and trombone, as well as conducting, music composition, and theory.
Our outstanding artist faculty challenges and inspires a student body of over 350 young Conservatory musicians and touches the lives of countless others through special programs.
In addition to private lessons, our musical community offers a rich variety of classes, interaction with guest artists, ensemble experiences, educational workshops, solo and group performances, and other unique opportunities in collaboration with arts organizations throughout the city.
Our Mission
The Omaha Conservatory of Music is a non-profit 501(c)(3) school that strives to build a artistic community through education and performance opportunities.
Our Philosophy
At the Conservatory, we believe that passion for learning combined with dedication to excellence can make music a lifelong source of joy and inspiration for our students and families. Our encouraging environment allows students to gain confidence in their musical abilities, learn discipline and mastery, and enjoy music-making with their peers.
The latest brain-based research on how we learn is actively applied to the Conservatory’s teaching philosophy through private lessons and community events that encourage autonomy, competence and relatedness, key factors found by neuroscientists to instill motivation and bolster success (Ryan & Deci, 2000).
Educators have identified the top life skills needed for success in today’s world as creative thinking, goal setting, cooperation, and problem solving. The study of music encompasses these concepts in such depth that we believe every child should receive a thorough music education, insuring the most success in whatever career path they may choose.
At the Omaha Conservatory of Music, every child will experience music with depth, pursue excellence, and develop in his or her area of interest. We strive to offer the students a wide range of opportunities that are fun and engaging, and that encourage the entire family to participate in a joyful educational experience.
